Exhibition November 2022 'Orchestra of Wilderness'

This painting was inspired by a visit to the Bunya Mountains National Park.
late in the afternoon

‘Swamp wallaby in forest, Bunya  Mountains’

This painting was inspired by a visit to the Bunya Mountains National Park. It was late in the afternoon and I wanted to capture the gloom, mystery and majesty of this ancient forest. A local swamp wallaby momentarily inspects a human visitor before hopping away.

Acrylic on stretched canvas

137cmW x 91cmH, 2022

$1200 - SOLD

Mount Nebo just north of Brisbane

‘Red-necked wallaby in forest - Gold Coast Hinterland’

A painting to soothe the soul! A wallaby in the gloom of an ancient forest, occasional pricks of dappled sunlight light up the forest floor. Climate change challenges the future of these forests with wildfires severely damaging nearby Lamington National Park in 2019.

Oil and acrylic paint on stretched canvas

77cmW x 56cmH, 2021

 $540 - SOLD

Redwood Park Vine Forest. Saved from development!

‘Study of vine forest’

This painting was inspired by the successful community campaign to save Redwood Park; an ancient vine forest on the Toowoomba range. ‘Vine forest is some of our most precious and vulnerable habitat for wildlife. It can also be challenging to paint! Here is a rhythmic (if not orderly), composition of vine thicket and rainforest undergrowth.’

Acrylic on stretched canvas

76cmW x 61cmH, 2022

$490 - Sold

Piccabeens line the creek at Mount Glorious

‘Creek lined with Piccabeens, Mount Glorious’

A walk at Mount Glorious in the rain inspired this painting. I like to include animals and birds in my paintings whenever it ‘works’, as our native forests are an important network of habitat for so many creatures. A pair of king parrots finish the picture.

Acrylic on stretched canvas

84cmW x 122cmH, 2022

$1100 - SOLD

Rednecked Wallabies quietly feeding at Mount Nebo

‘Mt. Nebo with red-necked wallabies’

This is an older painting that has been revamped - a human bushwalker has been removed to bring a mother red-necked wallaby and her joey into focus. Inspired by a bushwalking track at Mount Nebo.

Acrylic on stretched canvas

56cmW x 40cmH, 2022

$290 - SOLD

Bushwalking at Mount Glorious

‘Bushwalker in the rain, Mount Glorious’

This painting is inspired by the subtropical rainforest near Brisbane.

Acrylic on stretched canvas

121cmW x 84cmH, 2019

$690 - SOLD
