'Art of the Forest ' Exhibition 2024

‘Giant fig in shafts of light’

153cm x 101cm - Acrylic on stretched linen

In dry conditions, some rainforest trees can reduce their canopies, allowing more sunlight to reach the forest floor. A visit to the Bunya Mountains can be a more shady or a more sunny experience, depending on rainfall!

$3,200 AU  SOLD

‘Cunjevoi and yellow robin’

122cm x 92cm - Acrylic on stretched linen

The Bunya Mountains is an important recharge area for the Great Artesian basin. Alocasia brisbanensis, commonly known as cunjevoi are a common sight in the Bunya Mountains’ dark, wet gullies which are fed by underground springs.

$2,900 AU SOLD

‘Swamp wallaby and swallet’

101cm x 101cm - Acrylic on stretched linen

In the Bunya Mountains National Park, underground aquifers keep creeks and seeps permanently watered. This spring-fed pool sustains a population of native spinach and gives a passing swamp wallaby a cool drink.

$2,200 AU SOLD

‘Misty woodland, Bunya mountains’

101cm x 76cm - Acrylic on stretched linen

Straight after the rain, a mist engulfs the higher country of the Bunya Mountains National Park, creating calming woodland scenes like this one.

$1,800 AU

‘Giant vines & swamp wallaby’

92cm x 102cm - Oil and acrylic on stretched canvas

Vine forest is a very special and fragile type of rainforest. A series of giant vines dangling from the forest canopy tell an ancient story while morning sunlight on the forest behind it creates a warm backdrop.

$2,200 AU SOLD

‘Bunya Avenue and wallaby’

101cm x 76cm - Acrylic on stretched linen

Why did the red-necked wallaby cross the road? This one appears out of the gloom before disappearing into the undergrowth near Bunya Avenue.
